You walk past a fresh piece and immediately wonder: which colors are those? Or you are working on a commission and spend hours figuring out which cans come closest to your sketch. Sound familiar? We built something for that.
With the Cantastic Color Matcher you upload a photo, and the tool finds the cans that match its colors best. From Loop Colors, Kobra HP and Kobra LP, matched to what we have in stock. Happy with the result? Then add everything to your cart in one go.
How the Color Matcher works
From photo to cart takes five steps.
- Upload or take a photo. A piece on a wall, a sketch from your blackbook or an image that inspires you: anything goes.
- Choose how many colors you want. Use the slider to pull 1 to 64 colors from your photo. Numbered dots show where each color comes from.
- Pick a color yourself. Missing a tint? With Pick color from image you tap a spot on the photo yourself, and that color is added.
- Choose your brands. Match against Loop Colors, Kobra HP, Kobra LP or a mix. Prefer to stick to one brand? Just switch the others off.
- Check your cans and order. For each color you see the best matching can with its brand, color code, name and price. At the bottom you see the total of what is in stock, and with Add all to cart everything goes into your cart at once.
Not happy with a match? Click the swap icon next to a can. You get a list of similar colors from all selected brands, from closest to further away. Don't need a color? Remove it with the cross.
What does ΔE mean? Every match shows a ΔE value. That is the color difference between your photo and the can: the lower the number, the closer they are. If there is no good match, the tool tells you right there and shows the closest alternative.
Can sold out? You see it straight away, with a suggested replacement that is in stock. So you never order something we don't have.
No photo? Use the Palette Generator
No image yet, but itching to paint? The Palette Generator gets you started. It builds a palette from cans we actually sell.
- Generate a palette with one click, or hit the space bar.
- Choose a color scheme: Auto, Analogous (neighbouring colors), Complementary (opposite colors), Triadic, Monochromatic or Neutral + accent.
- Lock the colors you like and regenerate the rest, until your palette is right.
- Choose your brands and the number of colors, just like in the Color Matcher.
- Order right away: one click adds every color that is in stock to your cart.
Handy for a new piece, a jam with your crew or just to step outside your usual colors.
Tips for the best match
- Shoot in daylight. Harsh sun, shade or a yellow street light changes how colors show up in your photo. Soft daylight gives the most honest colors.
- Start with a few colors. Begin with 6 to 10 colors and add more later. That way you quickly see the main colors of a piece.
- Missing a detail? Highlights and thin outlines sometimes fall outside the automatic selection. Tap them yourself with Pick color from image.
- Watch the ΔE. A low value is a strong match. See a high value or a note that there is no exact match? Check the alternatives with the swap icon.
To be fair: the colors on your screen are a digital representation. Every screen shows colors slightly differently, and paint on a wall reacts to light and surface. So the match is a strong start, not a guarantee down to the last shade. In doubt? Grab a few extra cans of the colors that matter most to you.
Try it yourself
