Drink Away The Paint 2026: sixth edition at the Loods Hall of Fame

The short version: on 22 August 2026 the sixth edition of Drink Away The Paint took over the Loods Hall of Fame in Roosendaal. A graffiti jam and a beer tasting rolled into one, with writers from nine countries, more than eighty names on the wall, paint from Loop Colors and Dope Cans, seven craft beers from Brouwerij Eleven plus 8.6, and Cantastic there with a car boot sale. There are jams you go to because you should. And there are jams you are still scrolling back through on your phone the next day, slightly dazed, fingers still blue from the fills and the beers. Six editions in, Drink Away The Paint sits firmly in that second category, and that comes down to the setup: this is a graffiti jam and a beer tasting at the same time. On 22 August the Loods Hall of Fame in Roosendaal filled up again, and from the first glass to the last outline it was good.

That is not just a line on a flyer. Drink Away The Paint is put together by graffiti artists themselves, and you notice it everywhere. In how the walls are divided up, in the way the day runs without anyone feeling like a programme is being pushed on them, in the fact that there is simply scaffolding waiting if you want to go high. You walk in, you find your spot, you set your cans down and you go.

The Loods Hall of Fame is the perfect place for it. A hall of fame and event location in one, where you can work on a piece without rushing and without looking over your shoulder. That is exactly what you want on a day like this: space, time and a wall that looks better tonight than it did this morning.

Nine countries at one hall of fame

What made this edition special was the spread. Writers from the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, South Africa, Jordan, Australia and England stood painting side by side. Nine countries, one warehouse. You heard four or five languages crossing over each other, but the conversation that actually mattered was about caps, about craft beer and about where you get hold of that one shade.

That gives you work you do not see every week. There were pieces on that wall that stop you in your tracks: clean letters, well considered colour choices, characters staring at you from the other end of the hall. Anyone walking the wall picked up half a world map of influences along the way.

Paint, gloves and scaffolding

A jam this size runs on the people and brands that make it possible. Loop Colors and Dope Cans supplied the paint, and that is no small contribution when you think about how many metres of wall got covered that day. Mr. Serious provided the gloves, so everyone could go home with clean hands. Well, cleaner.

M83 Steigerservice brought the scaffolding, which meant the top of the wall got used just as well as the bottom. That is exactly the kind of detail you do not think about as a visitor, but it makes the difference between a wall with work up to eye level and a wall that is full from bottom to top.

Seven craft beers next to the wall

The jam is not called Drink Away The Paint for nothing. The beer here is not a side note that happens to be sitting in a fridge, it is half the reason the day is the way it is. 8.6 and Brouwerij Eleven took care of the drinks, and Brouwerij Eleven turned up with a proper tasting: seven different craft beers to work your way through.

Seven. Which means putting your can down, wiping your hands, taking your time with what is in the glass and hearing where it comes from, and then walking back to your piece. You are not just having the odd beer between painting, you are doing a tasting and a jam at once. That is a combination you will not come across in many places.

What happens when you put those two together

And that combination is exactly what creates the properly mad moments Drink Away The Paint is known for. A tasting gets people talking. Everyone stands there with the same glass in hand, comparing what they are picking up, and before you know it you are deep in a discussion about a beer with a writer from Ireland or South Africa while you both still have paint under your nails.

Meanwhile the work on the wall shifts along with the day. The morning is focused, with tight sketches and a lot of quiet. As the beers keep coming it gets looser: more characters that make no sense whatsoever, more people diving into each other's pieces, more shouting across the hall. Nobody comes off worse for it, because the level is high enough to carry that looseness.

It is that back and forth that makes the atmosphere. Painting, tasting, seeing what everyone else is doing, catching up with someone you only knew from Instagram, and then back up the scaffolding. As the day went on it turned into a full on party, music and all, with that mad momentum you only get a handful of days a year. Everyone who was there knows the moment we mean.

Small tip for the seventh edition: those seven beers go down surprisingly easily when you are on your feet all day. Have some water in between and you will still remember the good bits. That goes for the organisers too, and they know exactly who we are talking about.

Cantastic with the car booth sale

We were there ourselves as well, with a car booth sale. Booth open, cans out, and off we went. For us that is one of the best ways to see our customers: not through an order confirmation but right next to the wall, with a can in one hand and a beer in the other.

That led to good conversations all day. About colours that are hard to judge online, about which paint to grab for a fade, about where to start if you are only just working out how it all fits together. Exactly why we do it. The shop belongs to no one alone, it belongs to the writers who come through, and on a day like this you feel that most clearly.
